Building Belonging in 2026

In 2026, KSCI is focusing on strengthening our systems, sharing the story of inclusion, deepening partnerships, and expanding opportunities for housing and independence.

A new year often brings reflection—and also the temptation to rush into change. At KSCI, we’re entering 2026 with a clear intention: to focus on a few practical areas that strengthen our foundation and expand what’s possible for the people we support.

These focus areas reflect what we see every day—what people need in order to live lives that feel meaningful, connected, and truly their own, and what helps staff deliver consistent, person-centered support.

Our focus for 2026

1) Building strong systems that support people and staff
When internal systems are clear and reliable, staff can spend less time navigating barriers and more time supporting people well. In 2026, we’ll continue strengthening the “behind-the-scenes” work—tools, processes, communication, and consistency.

2) Sharing our story and raising awareness of inclusion
Inclusion is not a slogan—it’s a practice, and it takes community. This year, we want to be more intentional about sharing what inclusion looks like in everyday life: the relationships people build, the roles they hold, the goals they pursue, and the ways they contribute. We’ll keep inviting our community to better understand what belonging can look like when barriers are reduced.

3) Improving outcomes through partnerships, programs, and person-centered approaches
No single organization can do this work alone. In 2026, we’ll continue developing new partnerships and refining our programs so they reflect what people actually want and need—not just what systems are used to offering. Our commitment is to person-centered support that is respectful, responsive, and grounded in real-world outcomes.

4) Supporting people to access housing, pursue independence, and explore new opportunities
Stable housing and real options are foundational. This year, we’ll continue supporting people to navigate housing needs, strengthen independence, and explore new opportunities—whether that’s a move toward greater autonomy, a new goal, or more choice and control.

Moving forward together

We know the year ahead will bring its own challenges. But we’re clear about what we’re working toward: a community where people are respected, heard, and empowered to contribute and belong.
