On November 18, 2025, KSCI hosted our 2024 Annual General Meeting at 521 Seymour St and on Zoom. Nineteen people joined us—board members, staff, and society members—to look back on the past year and look ahead to where we’re going next.
The feeling in the room was hopeful and honest. Our work has always been about more than running programs. It’s about walking alongside people as they create the lives they want, and making sure our services truly support inclusion, belonging, and choice in everyday life.
Welcoming new leadership
A highlight of the evening was welcoming two new board members, Prakash and Frank.
The Board’s role is to hold the overall governance of the organization—setting direction, overseeing finances, and ensuring our policies and priorities reflect KSCI’s mission, vision, and values. Bringing new perspectives to the Board strengthens that work and helps us stay accountable to the people we support, their families, and our wider community.
Reports from across KSCI
Members heard brief reports from our president, treasurer, executive director, each service area, and our Impact Committee.
Together, these updates painted a picture of the year:
- How we are stewarding our resources.
- What day-to-day support looks like in our different services.
- Where we are seeing progress, and where we are stretching to meet emerging needs.
Each report circled back to the same core question: Are our services aligned with the outcomes that matter most to the people we support?
Measuring what matters
One of the biggest moments of the night was the Impact Committee sharing their evaluation results.
This work is about more than numbers. It is about checking whether our services are actually moving us toward the outcomes in our Theory of Change—like stronger relationships, greater community participation, and people having more say over their lives.
The evaluation results showed both encouraging signs and clear areas for growth. Rather than feeling discouraging, they gave us a clearer picture of where to focus our efforts in the year ahead.
Looking ahead
As we move forward, KSCI will continue to:
- Strengthen how we measure impact.
- Align our services more closely with the outcomes that matter to people with disabilities and their families.
- Build relationships in community that make inclusion real in everyday life.
If you’re curious about how you can support KSCI—through membership, partnership, or donation—we’d love to connect and share more about our work.
And for those who like to plan ahead:
Save the date: KSCI’s next AGM will be held on May 19, 2026.
