Community Inclusion at KSCI supports individuals to explore their interests, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to their communities in ways that reflect who they are.
Community Inclusion Services
Grounded in our organizational philosophy and Theory of Change, our approach is person-centered and strengths-based. We believe people are the authors of their own lives, and our role is to walk alongside them as they pursue what matters most to them.
This program offers a variety of opportunities—including volunteering, recreation, education, and cultural experiences—so that individuals can develop life skills, increase independence, and build natural support. We tailor our support based on each person’s goals, preferences, and communication styles, recognizing that meaningful participation looks different for everyone.
Through our Community Inclusion services, individuals may:
- Discover and build on their strengths and interests
- Develop friendships and social networks
- Learn and practice life skills to support independence
- Access and contribute to their communities using inclusive, generic community resources
- Explore opportunities that may lead to employment, leadership, or greater autonomy
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals may participate if they:
- Are 19 years or older
- Reside in Kamloops, or have transportation to Kamloops.
- Require support to participate in community activities
- Are approved for Community Living BC (CLBC) funding
Referral Process
Referrals are made by CLBC. All services are voluntary and based on informed choice.
Our services are guided by the belief that inclusion is more than presence - it’s about belonging, purpose, and empowerment. We strive to create welcoming environments where individuals feel seen, heard, and valued.
